GLP-1 changed the economics of every med spa and wellness clinic in South Florida, and most are marketing it exactly wrong: racing discount telehealth brands to the bottom on price. The clinics that will own this category locally are playing a different game, and it is built on three words: authority, retention, and relationship.

You cannot out-discount telehealth, so don’t

A local clinic will never beat a national telehealth brand on price or convenience, and trying pulls your whole brand downmarket. What the nationals cannot offer is what premium local clinics are made of: a clinician who knows your name, attention that adjusts, and a relationship that continues in a room, not a chat window. That is the position, and every piece of marketing either reinforces it or erodes it.

The retention economics everyone skips

The GLP-1 patient relationship is long, personal, and full of moments where a clinic either deepens the relationship or loses it to a cheaper alternative. The marketing that matters most in this category happens after the first appointment, inside the patient experience, and it is invisible from the outside. Most clinics have no system for it at all, which is the opportunity.

The aesthetic bridge

For many clinics, these clients become aesthetic clients over time, and that transition is one of the most natural conversations in the category. For a med spa, this client is not a product line; she is the beginning of a multi-year aesthetic relationship, if the practice is built to have that conversation with taste. Very few are marketing this well yet, locally almost nobody, and the same is true of being the name AI gives when someone asks who does it best.

Compliance is a marketing asset here

In a category this scrutinized, the practices that market conservatively, physician-forward, claim-careful, outcome-honest, read as the safe choice, and safe is what premium patients are buying. The clinics cutting corners in their ads are doing their competitors’ positioning for them.

If GLP-1 is becoming a real part of your practice and the marketing around it still looks like everyone else’s, that is a strategy conversation worth having early, while the local category is still unclaimed. A 15-minute conversation is where it starts.
